Abderrahim Halimi
Associate Professor at Heriot-Watt University
Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow
PhD Opportunities
PhD positions are available at the interface of computational imaging, statistical data processing, and deep learning (e.g., model-based deep learning, generative models). If interested, please send an email with a CV and a motivation letter to a [dot] halimi [at] hw [dot] ac [dot] uk.
About
Abderrahim Halimi received the Eng. degree in Electronics from the National Polytechnic School of Algiers, Algeria, in 2009 and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Signal Processing from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
He is currently an Associate Professor and RAEng Research Fellow within the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. His research focuses on statistical signal and image processing, with interest in Bayesian inverse problems and model-based deep learning with applications to remote sensing (hyperspectral imaging, satellite altimetry), single-photon depth imaging and medical imaging.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE, elected member of EURASIP TACs: TMTSP (since 2019, currently vice-chair) and SPMuS (since 2022). Associate Editor for Signal Processing (since 2023) and Signal Processing Letters (since 2025).
